Data Analysis Consultation submissions propose a working paper to be publicly workshopped with expert guidance from two scholars in the field. This session type is specifically designed to provide new scholars with critical mentorship, while inviting the audience to engage in new work. Papers will be paired with one other thematically related working paper.
All proposal submissions are required to include:
- Submission Track: Authors should identify their proposal as one of the following. (A) The Traditional Research track involves immersive, qualitative study of social life, where researchers observe, participate in, and analyze cultural practices to generate deeper theoretical and empirical insights. (B) The Practitioner Inquiry track involves educators and professionals systematically studying their own practice to better understand and improve the learning environments in which they work.
- Key Words: Authors may select up to four Keywords to help reviewers and organizers quickly understand the central themes of a submission and ensure it is grouped with related papers and panels.
- File Upload: An optional File Upload may be used to further elaborate on ideas introduced elsewhere in the submission, though primary review decisions will be based on the core elements outlined below.
For this submission type, please ensure you have prepared the following important core elements for this proposal:
Provide a 150-word summative overview of the study about which you are seeking guidance, including its significance.
In 150 words or less, ground this work in the empirical and theoretical literature to which it makes a contribution.
In 300 words or less, briefly describe the methodological approach, including the scope (length of study, number of participants, sites); research design; techniques for data collection/analysis; positionality and ethical considerations.
In 150 words or less, please describe the stage your project will be in when you attend the Forum in February 2027 (e.g., research design/proposal, data collection, data analysis, writing, or another relevant stage).
